Low Carbon Travel Challenge

Get in on the action - Trafalgar Square 1-3pm, Saturday 4 November.

In order to minimise the climate changing impacts of travelling to London, we're encouraging you to rise to the Low Carbon Challenge! Arrive in the most creative, low carbon way possible.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Travel by public transport

  • Book a coach, sell tickets to fill the seats and cover the cost

  • If you need to travel in your car, fill it up with people, and fill the tank up with bio-diesel or bioethanol before you set off - check with a mechanic, or someone who knows about this first!

  • Cycle in. There are lots of good cycle routes all over the country. The Sustrans website has lots of information about long-distance riding, they have inexpensive country-wide maps and some free maps. Call 0845 1130065. Free London cycle maps can be ordered from Transport for London or from the London Cycling Campaign or ask at your local tube or bus station. There will be secure bike parking at the event.

  • Get your blades on, or arrive on your skateboard

  • Paddle along the waterways. For a map click here
