What can I do and why do I Count?

Because your local MP will vote on the Climate Change Bill this summer, every MP’s vote counts, and you can influence that vote.

The Stop Climate Chaos coalition, running the I Count campaign, has been ramping up the pressure to get a strong Climate Change Law over the past 12 months, and we don’t want to fall at the last hurdle. Your help is crucial in ensuring we stay on our feet.

From simply writing to your MP and asking them to pledge for vote for a tougher bill - to organising a mass public rally and getting yourself on the telly, you'll find everything you need to know by either clicking on the tabs on the left or downloading our individual or group action guides.

First things first, who is my MP?

You can find your local MP and their contact details by calling 020 7219 4272 or entering your postcode at www.direct.gov.uk.

Before you start: Remember pledge, pledge, pledge!

You need to make sure you are equipped with the right tools to go all the way before you embark on your activity. And what better tool with which to publicly draw out MPs’ support for our two asks than a pledge card?

This does exactly what it says on the tin - simply ask your MP to sign the card as a public pledge in support of our two asks. Make it a high profile event and ask them to sign at a public meeting or pose with the signed card for a photograph in the local press.

What’s key is that they sign on the dotted line and go public with their support for our demands. I pledge, you pledge, MPs pledge - make this your mantra.

You can download a copy of the pledge card below. Please return all signed pledge cards to Stop Climate Chaos, 2 Chapel Place, London EC2A 2DQ.
