Shameless Star Makes
Climate Justice Pledge

Gerard Kearns, the star of Channel 4's ‘Shameless’, is joining Stop Climate Chaos (SCC) members, CAFOD, in their campaign to strengthen the UK Climate Change Bill.

The 23-year old actor, who plays Ian Gallagher in the hit TV series, is following the lead of CAFOD supporters by making a personal pledge for climate justice.

“As part of doing my bit for climate change I'm making this pledge: to turn off the lights in my house, to turn off the taps when I'm brushing my teeth and to use water more carefully around the house,” says the young actor.

As part of Stop Climate Chaos’s Climate Change Bill Week of Action, CAFOD is calling on their supporters to make similar pledges for climate justice. The international development agency is then asking their supporters to send their pledges to MPs to challenge them to vote for a stronger Bill.

Lucy Hurn, Campaigns Officer at CAFOD said: “Individual actions taken together can have a powerful impact. But without laws that commit the UK to reducing emissions, these promises will not be enough. That’s why we’re asking politicians to do their bit by supporting a stronger and more effective Climate Change Bill”.

Keen to do his bit, Gerard added: “I've made my pledge. I'm gonna send it off to my MP and ask them to make their pledge, and if we all do our bit we can try to make a difference.”
