Dear
As you likely know, the Climate Change Bill will soon be debated in the Commons. I welcome the Bill, but am concerned that the Bill is not tough enough.
I have noticed that the United Nations, scientists from the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution and Sir Nicholas Stern have said the Bill needs to have:
1. a 2050 emissions reduction target of at least 80%, and
2. the inclusion of emissions from our international aviation and shipping sectors.
With the Bill soon to come before the Commons I ask that you please join over 250 of your fellow MPs by signing EDM 736 in support for these changes and that you further support these changes when the Bill comes before the Commons.
You will have the backing of the 70+ organisations of the Stop Climate Chaos coalition, which includes Friends of the Earth, WWF, RSPB, Greenpeace, the Women's Institute, UNISON, PCS, UNICEF, Christian Aid, Oxfam, CAFOD, Action Aid, WDM, Tearfund, the Wildlife Trusts, the Woodland Trust, CPRE, Garden Organic, People & Planet, Practical Action, the Ramblers, the Campaign for Better Transport and the Women's Environment Network.
Yours sincerely
